Have you ever seen the film Le Silence De LaMer? It was a French film telling a story about love and war. But if you saw through the whole film, you wouldn’t see any war battle, any sweet kiss, cheap coach bags or any physical contact between the male character and the female character. However, when you finished the film, you would still be touched by it.
Pain brought by war was huge. After France was occupied by Germans, a German officer entered an old house. The house owner was an old French living with his granddaughter alone. They lived their lives by teaching piano. Hate formed by the war generated their disgust about this officer’s moving in. From the beginning to the end of the film, the German officer was the only person who spoke. He wanted the old man and his granddaughter to know that he was not a politician. He was just a nice and righteous musician. Each night, when this German got back, he would politely say good night, but they ignored him. However, he still continued to talk about that day’s weather and other things. After that, he would smile, and went upstairs to his bedroom. Every day, he talked about things he knew about French culture and his love of music. Because of these talks, the elder and young girl slowly accepted him. They realized this German officer was not a monster. He was just a human. cheap coach
But their feelings were restrained by their hate and their dignity as a human race. A month later, the girl’s feeling about the officer changed a little. She began to wait for the officer’s return. She began to dress up beautifully. On Christmas Day, when her grandpa went out to a ball, she got anxious. The German officer went downstairs and played a song with the piano. Then he raised his hand and touched her neck and hair. Everything stopped.
